Passion Trance - original song by Lyndol Descant

I wrote this song over 20 years ago; when I had just picked up my instrument again at 24 years of age. I had entered the workforce, was facing an overwhelming depression (surely a case of the 9-5 blues) and felt very lost. It was difficult to find the time for practice but I knew I loved it. And after only a few months, I could see it was time well spent. My joy was increasing in part due to watching the slow but steady progress build on itself; but also from my increased ability to express my self both lyrically and instrumentally.
I never foresaw that I’d also be strengthening important life skills such as patience, focus, discipline and trust. It was my meditation practice and it was my therapy. It was alchemy at it’s finest; I could turn the debris of my days into something meaningful and beautiful that night, alone at the piano.

About 4 years later, I wrote this song. That’s when I realized music is my passion and I wanted to pursue it with all my heart. Not for fame or money since those things have never motivated and I was too old at that point anyways (most get famous young).

I wanted to pursue it because I knew it was my best chance at living a meaningful life of service. Music is magic to me, and I know when intentions are true, it’s the best way to inspire, uplift and comfort anyone in need. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.

It’s been a long, patient journey but my instrument taught me that it’s only my own appreciation that matters in the end. And if you can look in the mirror and see yourself as the creative, miraculous, resilient and loving human being you really are - then you are living a life of true success.

To that point, In March I’m offering a free 30 min consultation (online) for anyone who is considering pursuing their musical passion. It’s NEVER too late!!! And it’s a decision you’ll never regret. We can discuss your interest and background, and I can offer my guidance on a few different steps you can take immediately to start or further progress your music.

Thank you Daniel Renton and Pianogroove for the video.
