Lyndol Descant is a composer, singer and pianist with a musical style that is powerfully alive and eclectic. Her performance style is focused and innovative. Her voice, reflecting her travels around the word, merges jazz alto vocals with rock, and touches of folk. Her refined piano skills express raw emotion, especially in her improvisation. Her compositions stand outside of any one genre, expressing her truth fearlessly. She released her 2nd CD of original compositions April 2016, entitled Reach Up. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/lyndoldescant2
Lyndol was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She studied classical piano and choral voice thru her teens. But she was did not uncover her passion for the arts till she was in her early 20's. Inspired by her travels in France, exposure to live musical improvisation, and the 90's Austin culture 'keeping it weird', her creativity came bursting through in a variety of art forms. In addition to music, she began studying photography, painting and writing. As a lifelong mystic, she discovered the power of creativity to unleash more peace and love upon this world. And her mission became clear.
Lyndol spent four years formally studying jazz piano and composition at the American School of Modern Music in Paris, France during which time she also privately studied voice with Keri Chryst of the Jazz Vocal Academy. She also apprenticed with Diana Lui, Fine Art Photographer, and took art workshops with greats like Alex Grey.
While music has become her main focus, her passion for all forms of creative expression remains active. She is the staff Photographer for Online Residential (https://www.olr.com), the staff illustrator for Artville (http://www.artville.us) and is currently pursuing publication on her first children's book, Masters of Trust.
She continues to creative prolifically on projects for hire, as well as her ongoing personal projects. All the while, she is soaking up the renaissance of art and music in Brooklyn, her home base for now.
